Merits and demerits of English language

No one can easily deny the obvious merits of English language. In the times of globalization when the world is shrinking ,the need of a common language is imperative. English fulfils this need to a great extent . English is spoken and understood in several countries of the world . In the country like India where there is absence of common Indian language, English fills the gap . It is difficult for a Tamil to converse with Punjabi and Gujarati with a Bengali ,if it were not for English . Hindi is not spoken and understood in North East and south India . It is only through that Indians can express their thoughts ,conduct business and unite hearts across the country .
